Steven Heighton's poetry has appeared in many magazines and anthologies in Canada and abroad, including Poetry (Chicago), BRICK, The Literary Review, Agni, Europe, and Stand. His collections include the Lampert Award winner Stalin's Carnival, the Governor General's Award finalist The Ecstasy of Skeptics, and The Address Book. His most recent book, Afterlands (a novel), has appeared in six countries and was a New York Times Book Review Editors' Choice. Three poems that appear in this issue of Studio, "A Perishable Art," "Ultrasound" and "Ravines" are from The Address Book (House of Anansi, 2004). The last poem, "Takayama: A Dream in Japanese" is from his book The Ecstasy of Skeptics (House of Anansi, 1994).
