There are no restrictions on subject matter. We are looking for works written in a range of forms including memoirs, literary journalism, documentary, biography, works of social or cultural criticism, commentary or analysis, personal essays, lyric essays, belle-lettres, and hybrid forms. We seek creative non-fiction that seeks to achieve, in the words of Tom Wolfe, “a larger truth than is possible through the mere compilation of verifiable facts or direct quotation.”

• Entries published or submitted elsewhere are ineligible.
• The entry must be original, unpublished work, between 2500-3000 words. Please double space your work and indicate word count on the first page.
• Entrants’ anonymity is preserved throughout the judging.
• Contact information, including email, should appear on a separate cover sheet.
• Title of work should appear as a header on each page.

• An entry fee of $25 CAD must be paid with each contest submission. Pay through PayPal.
