New Directions @ Studio
Studio is taking new directions. Starting with its December 2010 issue, the journal will expand its scope beyond poetry to include short fiction and creative non-fiction. Moving into the age of multi-media, multi-platform digital convergence, Studio will begin to publish and streamline literary audio and video submissions.
Another new direction is our forthcoming News page. Authors who have published in Studio will be able to publicize their new books and literary accomplishments.
Additionally, details of our first literary contest in creative non-fiction will be posted in our forthcoming summer 2010 issue.
In the current issue of Studio, I am pleased to present the poetry of: Ned Balbo, Kuldip Gill, Diane Lockward, Catherine Strisik, Kathleen Winter and Ann Fisher-Wirth. The Prose section features an essay by Jane Satterfield titled “Other People’s Histories: Ownership and Appropriation in Non-Fiction.”
Judith Arcana’s excerpts from her chapbook, 4th Period English, are published in Poetry and Education, along with links to her teaching and performance notes for this work that also functions as a play for multiple voices.
Gallery features text and image excerpts from Ashok Mathur’s novel A Little Distillery in Nowgong.
The Translation section showcases the work of Chilean poet Claudio Durán, translated to English by Francisca Durán. Claudio Durán’s Spanish poetry is excerpted from his recent book La Infancia y los Exilios.
I hope you will enjoy the calibre of artists included in this issue and that our new directions will inspire your creativity.
